same. is built to know as little about you as possible. there are no accounts, no names, no emails, no tracking cookies. this page is the complete list of what exists.

what we store

• a random id— generated by your own browser the first time you visit, kept in localStorage. it isn't derived from anything about you, and we can't connect it to you.
• your taps — which tags you popped, un-popped, or let fade away, each with a timestamp, stored under that random id.
• a country code — derived on our server from your ip address at the moment of each tap (e.g. “GB”). the ip itself is read from a header, used for that one lookup, and never stored.
• optional answers — if you chose to share an age band or gender for the reveal, those sit under the same random id. you can skip both; the site works identically.

what we never have

no accounts, no names, no email addresses, no ip addresses at rest, no advertising or analytics cookies — no cookies at all, in fact. everything client-side lives in localStorage. what strangers see is only ever aggregated: counts of people, never people. anonymised aggregate statistics (e.g. “dumplings are loved in 41 countries”) may be analysed and shared.

your id, and being forgotten

the random id below is the only key your data is stored under — save this if you ever want your data deleted after clearing your browser.

one honest limitation: if you've cleared your browser data, we cannot identify which records are yours — the id was the only link, and we deliberately hold nothing else that could identify you. under uk gdpr article 11, we are therefore not able to fulfil deletion requests we cannot verify. keep your id somewhere safe if this matters to you.
